Concrete Floor Coating

Concrete Floor Coating In Chatham, Ontario

Not every job is a garage. A good deal of what we coat is simply concrete that needs to stop being bare: a shop floor, a mechanical room, a storage building, a landing, a pad beside the lane.

The problem is the same everywhere. Concrete is open and dusty. It absorbs whatever lands on it and it keeps shedding fine powder onto everything nearby. Sealing it deals with both at once.

Reading The Slab

Concrete varies far more than people expect, and old concrete varies most of all. A troweled slab has a dense closed skin that has to come off before anything will stick to it. An older slab may be soft at the surface, carry previous coatings, or still have adhesive on it from tile or carpet. And a slab poured low on this kind of ground may well be carrying vapour up from underneath.

So we grind a test patch and take a moisture reading before quoting, which means the number you get is priced against your actual floor rather than an average.

Choosing The Build

Something walked on indoors takes a straightforward sealed build in a solid colour. Anything carrying vehicles or point loads wants more thickness and a harder wear layer. A floor that gets washed down needs aggregate through the top coat for grip and coving up the wall so there is no joint holding water, and where there is chemical exposure the resin gets chosen against what is genuinely on the shelf, which is a conversation rather than a catalogue.

Repairs Come First

Cracks are cut out and filled properly rather than skimmed over, because a crack that has moved once will move again and a coating simply bridged across it splits. Spalled and pitted areas get rebuilt to level, and low spots that hold water are filled, since a coating follows the shape of whatever is underneath it and will never fix a bad fall on its own.

What We Install

The Rest Of What We Build

Farm shops, packing rooms, plants and patios, alongside the garage and basement work.

Flake Epoxy Flooring

A flake floor is three layers doing three different jobs. A pigmented resin base goes down first, coloured vinyl chip is thrown into it while it is still wet, and once that has hardened a clear wear coat is rolled over the whole thing.

Industrial and Commercial Flooring

A working floor is specified against three things: what rolls across it, how it gets cleaned, and when the building can afford to be shut. Everything else follows from those answers, which is why a retail unit, a warehouse, an equipment shop and a packing room all end up with different builds even though they start from the same materials.

Metallic Epoxy Flooring

Metallic is the decorative end of what we do. Metallic pigment is dispersed through clear resin and then moved while it is still wet, so the finished floor ends up with depth and movement running through it and reads closer to polished stone than to a coating.
